Network Drivers for HP xw6600 for suse9

This site tell you how to install network drivers for HP XW6600 for SUSE 9

1)Download the driver from the following location.

http://www.broadcom.com/

Download linux-3.81c file from that site.

2)Extract the files to a local directory of the machine.

3)Remember you need to have gcc gcc+ compliers installed in the machine or if you are starting a new installation please install the SUSE 9 complete version option while installation you get this option.

If already installed system go to YAST - software - Install and remove software
In the search box type gcc and search
Select all the gcc compilers and click okay and insert SUSE CD as asked. I am using SUSE 9 SP-4
same way gcc+ and gnu compilers if does not know what to install then select most of them.

4)Extract the files to a local directory
# mkdir /drivers
# cp -rf linux-3.81c /drivers
# cd /drivers
# unzip linux-3.81.c

5. Install the source RPM package:

rpm -ivh tg3-.src.rpm --aid --force

6. CD to the RPM path and build the binary driver for your kernel:

cd /usr/src/{redhat,OpenLinux,turbo,packages,rpm ..}
rpm -bb SPECS/tg3.spec

or

rpmbuild -bb SPECS/tg3.spec (for RPM version 4.x.x)

Note that the RPM path is different for different Linux distributions.

The driver will be compiled for the running kernel by default. To build
the driver for a kernel different than the running one, specify the
kernel by defining it in KVER:

rpmbuild -bb SPECS/tg3.spec --define "KVER "
where in the form of 2.x.y-z is the version of another

kernel that is installed on the system.
7. Install the newly built package (driver and man page):

rpm -ivh RPMS//tg3-..rpm
is the architecture of the machine, e.g. i386:
rpm -ivh RPMS/i386/tg3-.i386.rpm

Note that the --force option may be needed on some Linux distributions
if conflicts are reported.

The driver will be installed in the following path:
2.4.x kernels:
/lib/modules//kernel/drivers/net/tg3.o

2.6.x kernels:
/lib/modules//kernel/drivers/net/tg3.ko

8. Load the driver:
insmod tg3.o

or

insmod tg3.ko (on 2.6.x kernels)

or

modprobe tg3

5. To configure network protocol and address,

go to yast and network devices - network card you should not able to see the network card is identified automatically just edit it and gives the ip subnet and DNS entries.
Building Driver From TAR File

The following are general guidelines for installing the driver.
1. Create a directory and extract the files:

tar xvzf tg3-.tar.gz

2. Build the driver tg3.o (or tg3.ko) as a loadable module for the
running kernel:

cd src
make
The driver will be compiled for the running kernel by default. To build
the driver for a kernel different than the running one, specify the
kernel by defining it in KVER:
make KVER=

where in the form of 2.x.y-z is the version of another
kernel that is installed on the system.

3. Test the driver by loading it:

insmod tg3.o

or

4. Install the driver:

Microsoft .Net Installation fails

I just found a solution that worked and I will make it a little easier for those who need it.

Now remove the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.0 and .Net Framework 4.0 from control panel as well as using the .Net Frame Work clean up tool

Restart the system.

Create a batch file with the following and run it from a command prompt.

regsvr32 MSXML3.dll /s
net stop wuauserv
cd /d %windir%\SoftwareDistribution
rd /s /q DataStore
net start wuauserv
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 mssip32.dll

Go to services and stop the Windows Update service
Go to the Windows directory (default is c:\Windows) and rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder to "SoftwareDistribution.old"
Go to services and start the Windows Update service

Worked for me.

WHat is the output of the following command?
emctl status dbconsole.

If not running
emctl start dbconsole
If still you are getting error

If you want you can try also drop and recreate the repository again
To drop
$> emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
It will ask for Database name =
Listerner port = 1521 or what ever you have specified

To Recreate
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate

This should solve your problem.

Cause: Crash recovery or instance recovery could not apply a change to a block because it was not the next change. This can happen if the block was corrupted and then repaired during recovery. Action: Perform a RECOVER datafile for the file containing the block. If this does not resolve the problem, then restore the file from a backup and recover it again.

Are you archivelog or noarchivelog mode?

Try this first
1. SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
2. STARTUP MOUNT;
3. RECOVER DATABASE;
4. ALTER DATABASE OPEN;

If this does not work then you will probably have to do media recovery. The type of recovery depends on type of archive mode you are running.

Look at alert log for additional info such as file needing media recovery. The type of file needing recovery also determines type of recovery.

Out of memory error in XP or 2003

This Error basically occurs when you are trying to run application which needs more then 2GB of memory.

Basically most of us increase the virtual memory and think that its done but its not true because XP has a limit of 2GB virtual memory and if you are trying to use more then that then you will get error out of memory when running large applications.

So here i am discussing some simple steps to solve this issue.

step 1 :- Check your physical Ram let us i have 1GB ram and you need 3GB more then first go to
My computer rightclick Properties / Advance Performance "Settings" / Click okay

Step -2

Click Advance / Change

Step -3

Give 3000MB / click set / okay

Step-4

We have not yet completed ,here is the mainlogic after this also the the virtual memory limits to only 2GB by default so we need to switch it to 3GB by editing the boot.ini file .

Try searching boot.ini file or just follow the steps to edit it -

Step -5

Now click the edit button and Boot.ini files open by default the file will be as below just put one /3GB switch in this line and save the file and restart and try running some application which uses more then 2GB Ram ,now your system is ready for 3GB .You can increase the capacity up to 4GB beyond that microsoft need to fix i can,t help "Kidding"

Steps to install Radmin with images

1)Download the Radmin software from

8)Go to start---Program---Remote Administrator v2.1--Remote administrator viewer

9)An application opens and in that click connections and click connect to and enter the IP address or hostname of the remote server you want to connect.

10)Now you should be able to connect to remote system,if you get error then follow the 2 steps belows and remote any firewall if you have in system as well as hardware firewall allows Radmin port.

To remove firewall to go control panel - windows firewall and disable the firwall.

Introduction:

VNC is a free utility to remotely control another PC,
see http://www.realvnc.com for details.

This article assumes that:

The remote PC is running Windows 2000, 2003, NT4 or XP Pro
(XP Home does not have an IPC$ share as far as I know).
You have administrative rights to the remote PC.

This article also focuses on loading VNC on a remote PC as a service, not as an application.

Step 1: Install VNC locally and set the password.
Download Real VNC and install it on a local PC (for this article, version 3.3.7 was used).

During the installation process, make sure that you check both:

Register VNC Server as a system service
Start the VNC system service

At the end of the installation process, you will be prompted to set a password.
The password that you set here will later be used to connect the remote PC.

If for some reason you aren't prompted for the password, run the following from the command line:
"C:\Program Files\RealVNC\WinVNC\winvnc.exe" -defaultsettings

Also run net start from the command line and confirm VNC Server is running as a service

Step 2:

Configure VNC on the remote PC using PsExec
PsExec is a freeware tool to execute processes on a remote PC and is needed for this procedure:

The remote account that you use must be a member of the Administrators group on the remote PC. "\\RemotePC" mentioned below can be either the remote PC's name or IP address.

1)Login to the remote PC's IPC$ share with an administrator account.

NET USE \\RemotePC\IPC$ /user:administrator password

2)Copy your local VNC files to the remote PC.

xcopy "C:\Program Files\RealVNC\*.*" "\\RemotePC\C$\Program Files\RealVNC\*.*" /r/i/c/h/k/e

3)Use Regedit to export the local VNC registry settings to the remote PC.
Note: If you prefer you can export the file locally and then copy it.

4)Use PsExec to import the above registry file on the remote PC.

psexec \\RemotePC -s -i -d %windir%\regedit /s C:\vncdmp.txt

Make sure to use the /s switch with regedit so that confirmation isn't required on the remote PC.

You are using regedit on the remote PC to perform this command. If the path for regedit is different on the remote PC, use the exact path instead of %windir%

Example: If the local PC is running XP Pro and the remote PC is Windows 2000, use this command:
psexec \\RemotePC -s -i -d C:\Winnt\regedit /s C:\vncdmp.txt

5)Use PsExec to install the remote winvnc service.

psexec \\RemotePC -s -i -d "C:\Program Files\RealVNC\WinVNC\winvnc.exe" -install

6)Use PsExec to start the remote "VNC Server" service.

psexec \\RemotePC -s -i -d net start "VNC Server"

If Java pluggings are missing then the workspace will not display properly, Missing java pluggins are installed for Mozilla browser to display the application properly.

1. The workplaces are not displayed properly

2. Quit any open mozilla session using the menu item: Mozilla -> Quit Mozilla

3.Download the Java embedding Plug-in:

4.In the downloaded directory go to the following location:
Download location --- Binaries --- ppc

5. Copy the two files JavaEmbeddingPlugin.bundle and MRJPlugin.plugin from this location to /Libraries/Internet Plug-Ins on the local system.

6. Update the timestamps of the following files at this location using the touch command:
a. Java Applet Plugin Enabler
b. Java Applet.plugin
c. JavaEmbeddingPlugin.bundle
d. MRJPlugin.plugin

From the terminal, execute the touch command as follows:

touch Java Applet Plugin Enabler
touch Java Applet.plugin
touch JavaEmbeddingPlugin.bundle
touch MRJPlugin.plugin

MRJPlugin.plugin should have the latest timestamp of these four files. Hence the touch command should be applied to this file after the timestamps of the other three files have been updated.

7. The plug-in is installed successfully:
Open a mozilla browser. Go to Help -> About Plug-ins

Oracle Financials 11i Installation Steps -Windows 2k,2003,XP

STEP I : OS Installation (Windows based)

Pentium 4, 160GB HDD, 1 GB Ram Memory minimum required and keep atleast 20 GB for staging in separate partition.

Install Windows XP / 2003 Server Edition

Setup required in Windows 2003 :
- Create the Active Directory & setup the Domain
- Create ‘Oracle’ User Account and make the member of ‘Administrators & Domain Users’ groups
- Restart the server.

Setup required in Windows XP :-

Add the Domain name in DNS Suffix at DNS, Network Connection setting.

Update the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file as per the given domain like follows.
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost.streed.com

STEP II: VC++ & MKS Toolkit Installation

Logon as Oracle User

Install VC++ Software

VC++ should be first installed before installing MKS & GNUMAKE
- Install Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 to Target directory C:\MSVC
- Install Common files to C:\MSVC\common

Note : When Visual C++ is installed, let the installer register all environment variables. This will allow executables to be linked automatically for the command line execution.

Restart the system.

Install MKS Tool kit 8.0

Run Setup from MKSTOOL CD to the Destination folder C:\MKSTOOL
This will Create additional directory under C:\MKSTOOL\MKSNT

Restart the server.

How to Download and Configure GNUMAKE

NOTE: Please, be aware that you must install Visual C++ BEFORE installing GNUMAKE,
because its installation process involves linking executables.

1) Before downloading GNUMAKE, you will need to acquire some utilities which will be used for unpacking files.

Download URL for make utility : ftp://ftp.gnu.org & ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/make/
Download URL for gunzip & tar utilities : http://www.cs.utah.edu/classes/cs4962/emacs/emacs.html

Make-3.77.tar.gz
gunzip-1.2.4-i386.exe
tar-1.11.2a.exe

2) Download the above 3 files and place them into C:\GNUMAKE folder
Rename gunzip-1.2.4-i386.exe to gunzip.exe
Rename tar-1.11.2a.exe to tar.exe

3) Unpack make-3.77.tar.gz file using gunzip.exe from a Command Prompt Window
Example: C:\GNUMAKE>gunzip make-3.77.tar.gz (.gz will be removed)

4) UnTAR the file make-3.77.tar, with the following command: C:\GNUMAKE>tar -xvf make-3.77.tar
This will create a new subdirectory called MAKE-3.77 under C:\GNUMAKE, the original directory.

5) Run build_w32.bat from C:\GNUMAKE\make-3.77 folder. It creates GNUMAKE.EXE in WinRel folder. Run the same build_w32.bat file twice for gnumake.exe creation.

6) Also run config.bat from C:\GNUMAKE\MAKE-3.77 folder

7) Copy make.exe from C:\MKSTOOL\MKSNT to C:\GNUMAKE\make-3.77\WinRel &
C:\GNUMAKE\make-3.77\WinDebug & C:\Windows\System32 folders.

Just to test & confirm the path, run the following in the command prompt.

(1)which.exe (2) make.exe (3) gnumake.exe

8) Path should be set in mycomputer/environment variables/System Variables like follows.

C:\MSVC\Bin;C:\GNUMAKE\make-3.77\WinRel;C:\GNUMAKE\make-3.77\WinDebug;
C:\GNUMAKE\make-3.77;C:\MKSTOOL \bin;C:\MKSTOOL \bin\X11;C:\MKSTOOL \mksnt;

Restart the System.

STEP III :

Setup the Staging Area for Apps 11i Installation

Directories to Create under D:\Stage11i

1.startCD { Start Here DVD ( Disk 1)}

2.oraApps { Appltop DVD1 (Disk 1 to Disk 6)}

3.oraDB {RDBMS DVD 1( Disk 1 to Disk 3)}

4.oraiAS {Tools Disk DVD (Disk 1 to Disk 3)}

5.oraAppDB {Database Disk DVD 3 nos (Disk 1 to Disk 19)}

Use xcopy /e e:\. Command for copying the entire CD into relevant folders.

Stage all the cd’s in the same manner.

STEP IV :

Start the installation (Generally takes 87GB including OS, VisionDB & 11i installation. Vision DB alone takes 60GB)

CD d:\stage11i\startcd\disk1\rapidwiz\rapidwiz.cmd

Please change the directories name as per directories created earlier. Example: C:\MKSTOOL\MKSNT
C:\MSVC\VC98.

Rapidwiz will start the validation and it should show all green signals, if its fails in any one of the check list, rectify the error before proceeding further.

After passing all the validation check lists sucessfully, the installation takes about few hours to complete without user intervention.

Finally, Restart the system.

Create or Delete A Service in Windows XP.
1)Create a service
Start Run and type cmd in the Open: line. Click OK.
Type: sc create servicename (or use double quote :- "service name")
Reboot the system .

2)To Delete A Service
Start Run and type cmd in the Open: line. Click OK.
Type: sc delete or use sc delete "service name"
Reboot the system

If you prefer to work in the registry rather than through the command prompt to delete services;
Click Start Run and type regedit in the Open: line. Click OK.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
Scroll down the left pane, locate the service name, right click it and select Delete.
Reboot the system

Q)while connecting through putty using ssh a remote host I am getting error after two minutes software connection disconnected but when i am trying the same from telnet the problem does not come.

Ans)This is one bug in putty.exe file which is not fixed yet if the network connectivity is poor it will give some problem better use other softwares to connect ssh

Question

I am installing SQL 2005 developers version on my laptop. That laptop is part of a domain and has XP w/ SP2. During installtion I get an error: "SQL Server Setup failed to obtain system account information for the ASPNET account. To proceed, reinstall the .NET framework, and then run SQL Server Setup again."

I don't see a user called ASPNET as a local user on my machine. Under Add/Remove Programs, Framework 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 are installed. I suspect the ASPNET account was removed for security reasons. What steps do I take next?

Answer

Open up Command Prompt and go to

"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322" folder and run

"aspnet_regiis -i" command.

This will create the necessary account and you'll be able to install your
SQL Server 2005 DE.
